The thick, oversized T-shirts are a perfect match for the abundant embroidery.
“Oni(demons) continue to exist throughout Japan as a symbol of ‘evil’ and ‘danger’, on the other hand, they are also used as a symbol of ‘strength’.
The origin of Oni comes from Onu, something which is unworldly, which does not exist. Throughout human time these eerie, non-human beings were illustrated as dumb, dull, while simultaneously complex characters. Their existence has been inspired by humans, when we see someone who is angry, we think they must be troubled by a demon and watch from the sidelines. Overtime this other worldly being, Onu, transformed into the being we now know as Oni, demons.”
