Movies That Make You Dance
Yoshida here.
Unfortunately, the state of emergency has been declared again.
We have to refrain from going out unless necessary.
In this case, we stay at home longer than usual.
Staying at home for a long time means you have time to watch movies.
Yes, you guessed it!!!
Continuing from "Movies to Boost Up Your Energy," let me give you some movie recommendations!
Which genre should I recommend?
Well, a time like this makes us feel down.
I feel like it should be something to cheer people up.
How about, "Movies that will make you want to dance around?"
I'll talk about movies' which main focus or theme is music.
Let's begin!
The level of "I can't resist dancing": ☆☆☆
"Sister Act"(1992)
Whoopi Goldberg stars as a singer who has to spend some time at a convent, where she ends up teaching the choir team.
This film is great because it tells us the greatness of music and Whoopi's character is phenomenal.
Since you can see nuns maturing through learning music, the choir performance is quite moving.
This movie's Japanese title translates to "A love song to the Angels."
It is my personal "no.1 well translated Japanese movie title."
The level of "I can't resist grooving on the music": ☆☆☆☆
"The Blues Brothers"(1980)
When I watched this film for the first time, I thought to myself, "This is too much! (In a good way)."
I can't express enough how out of this world this film is.
If you like music, I want you to take a look at the casts.
James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Cab Calloway are starring.
You can already tell this is a superb movie, can't you?
This comedy film is absolute mayhem, yet I can't complain about the great music as well as the presence and coolness of the two main characters!
The storyline is great after all.
Because this movie is so refreshing, you can laugh at small issues in life.
Once you watch this, it gives you so much energy every time you think about this powerful movie!
The level of "I can't resist grooving on the music": ☆☆☆☆☆
"Sing Street" (2016)
This is a coming-of-age film about a boy who loves music in Dublin, Ireland.
Set in the year 1985, a boy who is frustrated with his life because of school transfer as well as parental marital discord due to bad economy.
He starts a band to impress a girl he met, and grows up through experiences.
Story-wise it's a romance movie, but the music gives such depth into the story.
It makes me feel more appreciative of the music.
Having a crush, friendship and family love. The music showcases these.
Many original songs bring scenes with the bittersweet love story and brotherhood all together.
I can relate to a lot of music in the movie with strong messages, and it makes me emotional!
The last few minutes especially get me enthusiastic!
I want to cheer them on until my voice gets raspy.
I thought I was watching this boy growing up, but he ended up giving me so much energy and cheer me up.
I also recommend watching the director, John Carney's other work. He has made several other music-themed movies.
What did you think about my "Movies that will make you want to dance around?"
I didn't mention play-like films this time, but I believe that films with strong musical elements give a specific uplifting feeling.
You feel down because you can't go out?
In times like these, I'm sure this uplifting feeling will be right up your alley!
These are my recommendation of "Movies that will make you want to dance around!"
Make sure to check out the next movie recommendation too.
