Inspired by “Yatagarasu,” the guiding deity from Japanese mythology, this piece expresses the shared vision of “Yodogabe,” a project leading the way in Japan’s mural culture. Intricate yet dynamic embroidery is stitched onto luxurious satin fabric. Featuring the sun, the Yatagarasu, and the iconic BAKI pattern on the back, this design is a “contemporary haori” where the rebellious spirit of the sukajan meets traditional beauty. It updates the traditional Japanese hanten into modern streetwear, bringing a new sense of excitement to everyday life.

The dragon is the brand's central figure, and it is a water spirit before it is a beast. Kōryū Un'u — the dragon that rises and brings the rain — is the oldest form of fire insurance there is. Rigyo chō Ryūmon, the carp that leaps the dragon gate and is transformed, carries the same current: persistence rewarded, the ordinary made extraordinary. Seiryū, the Azure Dragon of the four celestial guardians, holds the east, the spring, and the element of wood. Read together, these are not four motifs but one continuous argument about water, courage and change.

The range holds together because the test is consistent. A guest motif has to survive being enlarged to the scale of a back panel; it has to sit inside the kimono composition rather than float in a rectangle on the chest; and it has to mean something to the person wearing it, in the way the dragon meant something. Recognition alone is not sufficient. If it cannot carry weight from behind, it does not go on the garment.
