URAMASARI - Under Edo law, the merchant class was forbidden fine dress. They obeyed — on the outside. Beneath a plain cotton face they put dragons, waves, gold. This is uramasari: the reverse outdoing the front. Not concealment but restraint with something behind it. To wear it and say nothing is iki.

This HANTEN is built from sashiko cloth dyed in Bushu Shoaizome — the natural fermented indigo of the old Bushu province. Panels of differing weight and tone are set against one another, giving the coat a lightness that lets it be thrown on any day rather than saved for one. The hand of sashiko and the depth of real indigo, in a single piece.

We are born with the urge to break balance and trace new lines. I seek an aesthetic that refuses to conform, that never asks for approval: it speaks through sharp silences and details that become a manifesto. Every gesture is an affirmation, every gaze a boundary redrawn.
