KENICHI ASANO + HiKESHi SPiRiT
Collaboration Work
Asano Kenichi, an artist who fuses pop culture elements with wood carvings and convert them into contemporary art while focusing on the themes of "possession" and "unification" with traditional Japanese arts.
HiKESHi SPiRiT, a brand that passing along Japanese specialty expression, "iki" through clothing.
"Goh No Mono" (A Strong Warrior)
Asano's creation has been based on one's transition to someone/something different, obtaining power through transmissions such as; transformations, spiritual possessions, and puppets.
He presents you with "Goh No Mono" (A Powerful Warrior), a transmission of surface to access another world.
Following the world of Noh's rule, while the drivable cyborg with golden eyes is a transcendence of they and our intentions, its outer shell is a bright luminescent helmet and face cheek armor, fencing gloves, and shin guards.
It expresses a human being who has been deified because of their overwhelming strength.
This work is an acrobatic fusion of traditional technique and futuristic sense, with the creator's the best of his ability and artistry; which deserves to be called BASARA.
BASARA is at the opposite end of "Wabi, Sabi, and Zen," which is a magnificent, exceptional inheritance of beauty.
Derailing from repressive Japanese social structure, it is like a legacy of eccentric Kabukimono during Japan's civil war era or painters of the end of the Edo era.
